I’m often asked where I source and shop for all my pieces. The answer is, everywhere. I’ve always got my eye open for interesting pieces whether it’s online, on the street or estate sales. Growing up my mom used to take us to flea markets and vintage shops on a regular basis. I grew to love ‘the hunt’.
Here are a few of my favorite sources for vintage furniture shopping specifically on the North Fork of Long Island.
MR. CLEANOUT
Mr.Cleanout is an estate liquidation service that holds sales regularly on the east end of Long Island. Cars line the road for 50 yards in each direction. Inside there’s a mix of lighthearted shoppers mixed with serious yard sale junkies. I always find some terrific pieces at incredible prices. Below is a Harrison & Gil ornate wood carved mirror that I purchased at their sale last Spring and now it sits in my client’s entry hall.

OPPORTUNITY SHOP
The ELIH (Eastern Long Island Hospital) Opportunity Shop is a thrift shop run by local volunteers. Merchandise is constantly being donated and the prices are so low that the turnover is quick! Anything imaginable can be found at the Opp Shop from a fully intact game of Pictionary to an antique silver tea set. I found this John Wanamaker desk at the Opp Shop and re-lacquered it.

LUMBER + SALT
L+S is a carefully curated salvage and antique shop on the North Fork. I found a massive copper chandelier, imported from France, in their antique shop which now hangs in the center of my studio. A few of my favorite finds from L+S have been an antique ‘throne-esqu’ chair, a vintage scroll arm bench and a set of 10 classic Thonet chairs which are coming soon!
